The dynamic geometry of the canopy becomes the project’s key expressive element. Its form, tapering towards the edge, creates a sense of rapid movement — like a car travelling at high speed. This visual dynamism strengthens the driver’s emotional response: even when their gaze rests on the fuel station for only a moment, they still sense the energy of motion.

The sharp edge of the canopy gives the structure visual lightness, offsetting its substantial scale. Its thin, blade-like profile contrasts with the dark volume, adding elegance and dynamism. The façade finish supports the overall visual concept through a combination of matte and glossy panel surfaces.

The architectural solution is further enhanced by the unconventional angled placement of the columns. Their positioning is carefully considered to make the volume feel lighter and to create a sense of spatial freedom. This technique allows the station to integrate into its surroundings without overloading the urban landscape with rigid, mechanical rhythms.

The uncompromising black finish that dominates the exterior refers to oil as a source of energy. In developing the rhythms and colours, the architect drew inspiration from the image of a drop of oil falling into a filled reservoir, creating ripples on a perfect black mirror. Black serves as an ideal background for contour lighting and as a strong accent against the natural setting, reinforcing the image of technology and modernity.

OilLab by RCC demonstrates that even utilitarian facilities can become an expression of technological aesthetics and brand identity.

The fuel station integrates harmoniously into the overall concept of the Archangel Michael sports quarter. The architectural concept of the cluster is based on minimalism and brutalism: the building façades are designed in concise forms and deliberately contrast with the surrounding development. The quarter is focused on sport and an active lifestyle.
