Landscaping

The small area of the plot suggested simple solutions. Therefore, the paving design features rectangular lawn elements and tile patterns that complement the geometry of the facades. Small rest areas with benches make the space around the store more welcoming, while contrasting dark tile inserts break up the monotony of the paving.

Spatial and Volume Solution

The proximity to a large residential complex and the small surrounding area partly influenced the spatial and volume solution. It remains compact and proportional to the surrounding space. Visually, the store appears to be a single-story building — the basement floor is only visible from two sides. The main volume is made of monolithic concrete, but the entrance is highlighted by the protruding geometry of the facade and contrasting finishing materials.

Facade Solution

The surrounding development is minimalist — residential and administrative buildings from the Soviet modernist era with rather austere facades and a subdued colour palette.

The goal of this project was to enliven the monotony of the background development while integrating the building harmoniously into its surroundings. As a result, a fresh and concise facade solution was achieved, built on the contrasting combination of white fibre-cement panels and porcelain stoneware with a rusted metal texture.

The external finish of the plinth — gray porcelain stoneware tiles — is the most practical choice for the Ural’s transitional seasons.

Planning Solution

On the ground floor of the building, there are exhibition and retail areas and technical rooms. The basement level houses additional exhibition and retail space, a room for on-duty service staff, technical rooms, and a garage for one vehicle.
